Vintage Pink Bunting Cake

We had a wonderful week, with family from overseas visiting for a late Christmas Celebration. They were only with us for a few short days, so we packed in as much as we could in that time. My daughter especially loved spending time with her cousin who is the same age - the two girls were inseparable!

We spent a whole day being tourists in London and even managed to fit in a West-End show, any guesses what we saw?

In the middle of all the excitement, I also had a cake order to fill. Luckily it was quite a simple fondant free cake (I am slowly building up my buttercream skills), along with a dozen cupcakes.

We were asked to use shades of pink and gold, so the cake itself was 4 layers of vanilla pound cake in ombre pinks filled and decorated with vanilla buttercream. I made the bunting with card, cut on my Silhouette Cameo, and butchers twine, hanging from paper straws.

The cupcakes were rich chocolate, decorated with the same vanilla buttercream. Cake and cupcakes were sprinkled with sparkly gold gelatine flakes.
