Rainy Days Cookies

It has been raining, heavily, for over a week now. I love the rain! No, really, I do, especially when I don't have to go out in it, which has not been a problem for me this last week. I have been able to sit snuggled up with a good book all week watching the rain from my warm cosy sofa!

No, I am not lazy - well not all the time anyway. Last week I had some rather last minute surgery done on my knee, which I hurt when I slipped and fell just before Christmas. The doctors finally decided that something should be done about it and the next thing I knew (the day after I saw the specialist for the first time) I was under the knife. So here I sit, with strict instructions to keep my leg elevated and to stay off of it for about 10 days, enjoying the rain.

I was looking around all of my favourite blogs the other day, and I noticed that there were quite a few April showers themed cookies around, then I went to Cancun Cookies and saw that she was hosting a {show me}your cookie Flickr group where other cookiers can link up their April shower themed cookies. Well, that settled it, I had to make some rainy day cookies! Problem is, I can't bake while keeping my pesky leg elevated. So I cheated improvised. I used some good old tea biscuits and covered them with rolled fondant and, hey presto, I had 6 little cookie canvasses in minutes.

I have not actually painted on cookies before - canvasses, fabric, wood, metal, walls, paper mache, I've painted on all of those - but I have done a little bit of painting on fondant cake decorations, so I thought I would give it a go, and I have to say I am very pleased with the results :) I can't wait to be on my feet again so that I can try painting on royal icing!

I hope you like my cookies as much as I enjoyed painting them!
